Up In The Air (2009)

Ryan Bingham is a man who lives his dream, travels across America in airports, hotels and rental cars. His job is to fire people from theirs, on behalf of their bosses who are cowards to do it themselves. Showing false compassion to his “clients”, he has no personal life and loving every second of it. He’s close to attaining his lifetime goal of 10 million frequent flier miles. On one of his flights he meets a woman named Alex with whom he gets involved in a casual relationship. Ryan’s boss hires a young, ambitious and arrogant Natalie, who develops a method of video conferencing that will allow termination without ever leaving the office. Immediately Ryan feels threatened by the fact that he may become excessive. He tries to keep his job by taking Natalie on of his cross country firing expeditions, wanting to prove that her method won’t work. Faced with the prospect of losing his job Ryan begins to contemplate what it might actually mean to have a home.
